Student Technology Information

Wamogo Regional High School

Preparing students to be successful 21st Century learners is a primary focus of our school.  We believe students should be good digital citizens, have strong communication skills, think critically and collaborate with others. Through the use of multimedia resources students will demonstrate high levels of engagement and participation while building skills applicable in the classroom and beyond. Our goal is to create an opportunity for every student to have access to technology. Therefore we are requiring each high school student to have a digital device at  Wamogo beginning in September 2012. Students can either bring their own device or receive a device from the school.

Creating a 1:1 classroom environment will positively impact students in a variety of ways. The integration of technology in the classroom does not replace best practices in curriculum,        instruction and assessment, but enhances the learning opportunities for our students.  With each student having a device, teachers are able to individualize learning experiences and help meet the needs of all students, while maintaining rigorous standards of achievement.

We will continue to have filters and firewalls to block content on the internet in accordance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA). These controls will remain in place for all students accessing the internet, on both school-issued devices and technology brought to school by students.

Teachers and administrators at Wamogo participate actively in educational technology
professional development. Teachers currently integrate technology on a daily basis in their instruction. The 1:1 classroom will build on the teachers’ current practices by giving students increased opportunities to utilize online resources and tools, while developing skills and mastering concepts.  Students will be expected to use their devices on a daily basis for multiple purposes including note taking, organization and as a daily planner.
